DELFT, 9 MAY 2025 – A closing exhibition of the master’s course “Architecture and Colonialism”, open to the public at TU Delft until 16 May 2025, had to be achieved through tireless work from scholars organised in Bouwkunde (BK) Scholars for Palestine amid continuous smearing, intimidation, harassment, and even stalking of the scholars teaching the course by Zionist groups. 
 
Over the past three months, the course “Architecture and Colonialism”, open to 36 students of the Faculty of Architecture and immediately fully booked, provided an examination of the history of settler colonialism in Palestine to master’s students at TU Delft, including a focus on how this history informs the genocide in Gaza. 
 
TU Delft, deeply complicit in war crimes committed by the Israeli army through its 42 ongoing projects with 23 Israeli partners or companies arming Israel¹, had only agreed to facilitate the course after immense pressure from Palestinian scholar Dr Nama’a Qudah and other anti-genocide staff members and students after a prior assault on Palestinian academic freedom. 
 
During the teaching of the course, Zionist groups attempted to terrorise the teachers, one of whom is Qudah, into silence. Smearing, intimidating, harassing, even stalking by a Zionist identified as a scholar working for a university in Germany who has served in the Israeli army; it was all part of their attempt to silence the truth. To no avail. The course has come to a close, and an exhibition featuring the work of students who participated in the course is held until 16 May 2025 – ten days shorter than initially agreed because the University cannot ensure the safety of anti-genocide and anti-colonial staff and students exercising their academic freedom due to the threat of Zionist violence. 
 
The exhibition will be Qudah’s last involvement with TU Delft as its administration did not express willingness to run the course again next year, despite the obvious interest among students. As a result, Qudah is able to speak out publicly where other colleagues cannot due to Zionist aggression and lobbying with the University. The exhibition, named Reclaiming Space / Reclaiming Narrative, features student projects from the course, focussing on architectural complicity in the systems of colonial domination in Palestine. 
 
Background: 1.5 year of Zionist violence on campus 
In December 2023, Qudah circulated a petition among her colleagues, urging the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture to join the call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. In response, she was doxed and smeared by a TU Delft employee. Rather than intervening to protect her, the University has since enabled an atmosphere of impunity, effectively condoning Zionist violence on campus. TU Delft consistently refuses to publicly condemn harassment and intimidation of anti-genocide and anti-colonial staff and students, to take strict action against these, and even to acknowledge the severity of the attacks. With this, the University protects the Zionist groups and normalises their attacks. 
 
The most telling example of this was the harassment of Qudah during the Architecture and Colonialism course. For example, before the first class on 12 February 2025 Qudah found smearing flyers spread over the tables in the classroom. The content of the flyers included social media posts from Qudah, accusing her of antisemitism by conflating antizionism with antisemitism. Qudah then spotted a man watching her from a distance, a man who gladly admitted being the one who had distributed the hand-outs. 
 
This harasser has been identified as a scholar working for a university in Germany, not even affiliated with TU Delft, who has served in the Israeli army. The European Legal Support Centre (ELSC) has his full name on record. One week after the first class, he was arrested and spent a night in jail for spray-painting defamatory slogans directed at Qudah and other tutors on the library walls for a second week in a row. Defying a campus ban imposed by the University, he continued his stalking and harassment by appearing on days when classes were held and seeking contact with Qudah. This campus ban was only given after the harasser had spent one night in jail for his vandalism, in time with Qudah getting in touch with the ELSC for legal support, which she used to further pressure the University to impose the ban. 
 
The harasser was part of a group of individuals, including individuals from Zionist groups such as the Jewish Student Association Delft and StandWithUs, an organisation known to spread propaganda (hasbara) on behalf of the Israeli government, who gathered in front of the classroom with smearing signs on three different occasions. On one occasion, after finishing the class Qudah had to exit the lecture hall through a different door to avoid contact with the Zionists, who ran toward her as soon as they noticed her. 
 
How TU Delft enables Zionist attacks 
This violence entering the classroom cannot be separated from TU Delft’s ongoing refusal to publicly condemn previous Zionist attacks on campus and to take strict action against them. For instance, in April 2024 TU Delft cancelled an event organised by BK Scholars for Palestine titled “Architecturing Destruction in Gaza, Palestine”, featuring Palestinian speakers only, including Qudah. The Dean of the Faculty of Architecture cited vague reasons involving not being able to ensure “a constructive and respectful dialogue”. The Dean omitted from his statement that Zionists, hell-bent on erasing any truth about Palestine, had torn down all the posters promoting the event, amongst other threats. The enabling message from the University to the Zionists terrorising the faculty; it is possible to erase any truth about Palestine on this campus through sheer intimidation and threats.

Werknemers die lesgeven over kolonialisme en genocide geïntimideerd en gestalkt: TU Delft doogt Zionistisch geweld gericht op uitwissen feiten over Palestina 

DELFT, 9 MEI 2025 – De afgelopen drie maanden leerden 36 masterstudenten van de faculteit Bouwkunde aan de TU Delft over de geschiedenis van het kolonialisme in Palestina met aandacht voor de rol van deze geschiedenis in de genocide in Gaza. Het bestaan van het vak dat dit mogelijk maakte, genaamd “Architecture and Colonialism”, en de afsluitende tentoonstelling ervan is te danken aan de onvermoeibare inzet van wetenschappers georganiseerd in de groep Bouwkunde (BK) Scholars for Palestine op de universiteit, ondanks voortdurende lastercampagnes, intimidaties, en zelfs stalking door Zionistische groepen. De tentoonstelling is tot en met 16 mei 2025 open voor publiek op de TU Delft. 
 
TU Delft, zelf medeplichtig aan de oorlogsmisdaden gepleegd door het Israëlische leger via 42 lopende projecten met 23 Israëlische partners of bedrijven die Israël bewapenen¹, had het vak pas toegezegd na enorme druk van de Palestijnse wetenschapper dr. Nama’a Qudah en andere anti-genocidemedewerkers en – studenten na een eerdere aanval op de Palestijnse academische vrijheid op de universiteit. Hierover later meer. 
 
Tijdens het semester waarin het vak Architecture and Colonialism werd gegeven probeerden Zionistische groepen de docenten, onder wie Qudah, het zwijgen op te leggen door middel van laster, intimidatie en zelfs stalking door een Zionist werkend als wetenschapper aan een Duitse universiteit en in het verleden gediend in het Israëlische leger. Dit alles maakte deel uit van hun pogingen om de feiten over Palestina uit te wissen. Het mocht niet baten. Het vak is afgerond en tot en met 16 mei 2025 zal een tentoonstelling worden gehouden met het werk van studenten – tien dagen korter dan oorspronkelijk was afgesproken omdat de universiteit de veiligheid van anti-genocide en antikoloniale medewerkers en – studenten niet kan garanderen vanwege de dreiging van Zionistisch geweld. 
 
De tentoonstelling zal Qudah’s laatste betrokkenheid bij de TU Delft zijn aangezien de beslissingsmakers op de faculteit Bouwkunde niet bereid zijn het vak volgend jaar opnieuw te faciliteren, ondanks de overduidelijke belangstelling van studenten: 36 studenten konden het optionele vak volgen en al deze plekken waren direct geboekt. Door haar naderende vertrek kan Qudah zich in het openbaar uitspreken, terwijl andere collega’s dat vanwege Zionistische agressie en lobby bij de universiteit niet kunnen. 
 
De tentoonstelling, getiteld Reclaiming Space / Reclaiming Narrative, toont studentenprojecten uit het vak, projecten die zich richten op de medeplichtigheid van architectuur aan de systemen van koloniale overheersing in Palestina. 
 
Achtergrond: 1,5 jaar Zionistisch geweld op de campus  
In december 2023 verspreidde Qudah een petitie onder haar collega’s waarin ze de decaan van de faculteit Bouwkunde opriep zich aan te sluiten bij de oproep tot een onmiddellijk staakt-het-vuren in Gaza. Als reactie hierop werd ze door een medewerker van de TU Delft gedoxt en belasterd. In plaats van in te grijpen om Qudah te beschermen heeft de universiteit sindsdien een klimaat van straffeloosheid gecreëerd waardoor Zionistisch geweld op de campus in feite wordt gedoogd. TU Delft weigert consequent om intimidatie gericht tegen medewerkers en – studenten publiekelijk te veroordelen, er streng tegen op te treden en zelfs de ernst van de aanvallen te erkennen. Hiermee beschermt de universiteit de Zionistische groepen en normaliseert zij hun aanvallen.  
 
Het duidelijkste voorbeeld hiervan was de intimidatie gericht op Qudah als docent van het vak Architecture and Colonialism. Zo vond Qudah voor de eerste les op 12 februari 2025 pamfletten met laster verspreid over de tafels in het klaslokaal. De inhoud van de pamfletten bestond uit posts van Qudah op sociale media vergezeld met teksten waarin zij van antisemitisme werd beschuldigd, uiteraard door antizionisme en antisemitisme op één lijn te stellen. Qudah zag vervolgens een man die haar van een afstand in de gaten hield, een man die al te graag toegaf dat hij degene was die de pamfletten had verspreid. 
 
Deze persoon is geïdentificeerd als een wetenschapper die werkzaam is aan een universiteit in Duitsland, niet verbonden aan de TU Delft, en die in het Israëlische leger heeft gediend. Zijn volledige naam is bekend bij het European Legal Support Centre (ELSC). Een week na de eerste les werd hij gearresteerd en bracht hij een nacht in de gevangenis door omdat hij voor de tweede week op rij lasterlijke leuzen tegen Qudah en andere docenten op de muren van de bibliotheek had gespoten. In strijd met een door de universiteit opgelegd campusverbod, zette hij zijn stalking en intimidatie voort door op dagen dat er colleges waren op te dagen en contact te zoeken met Qudah. Dit campusverbod was overigens pas opgelegd nadat deze man de nacht in de gevangenis had doorgebracht. Dit laatste viel samen met het eerste contact tussen Qudah en het ELSC, iets wat Qudah gebruikte om de universiteit verder aan te sporen het verbod op te leggen. 
 
De man maakte deel uit van een groep individuen, waaronder leden van Zionistische groepen zoals de Jewish Student Association (JSA) Delft en StandWithUs, een organisatie die bekend staat om het verspreiden van propaganda (hasbara) namens de Israëlische regering. Drie keer stond deze groep met borden met lasterende teksten voor het klaslokaal. Qudah moest zelfs eens na afloop van een les de collegezaal via een andere deur verlaten om contact met de Zionisten te vermijden, waarna de groep op haar afrende zodra ze dit in de gaten hadden. 
 
Hoe TU Delft de Zionistische aanvallen mogelijk maakt  
Dit geweld rondom het klaslokaal kan niet los worden gezien van de consistente weigering van de TU Delft om eerdere Zionistische aanvallen op de campus publiekelijk te veroordelen en ertegen op te treden. Zo annuleerde de TU Delft in april 2024 een evenement georganiseerd door BK Scholars for Palestine met de titel “Architecturing Destruction in Gaza, Palestine”, een evenement waarin alleen Palestijnse wetenschappers, inclusief Qudah, zouden spreken. De decaan van de faculteit Bouwkunde voerde hier vage redenen voor aan, waaronder het niet kunnen garanderen van “een constructieve en respectvolle dialoog.” Hij liet in zijn verklaring na te vermelden dat Zionisten, vastbesloten om elke waarheid over Palestina uit te wissen, onder meer alle posters voor het evenement hadden verscheurd. De boodschap van de universiteit aan de Zionisten die de faculteit terroriseerden was duidelijk: op deze campus is het mogelijk om de waarheid over Palestina het zwijgen op te leggen door middel van intimidatie en bedreigingen.
