We provide free legal advice and&nbsp;assistance&nbsp;to associations, human rights NGOs, groups and individuals advocating for Palestine in mainland Europe and Britain.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ELSC intervenes to end arbitrary restrictions and&nbsp;criminalisation&nbsp;of advocacy. It also develops legal tools and engages in strategic litigation, investigative research,&nbsp;monitoring&nbsp;and advocacy efforts, to ensure access to legal&nbsp;assistance, expose repression, and dismantle the systems of complicity that sustain Israel\u2019s settler colonial project.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ELSC was&nbsp;established&nbsp;in January 2019 as a joint initiative of European jurists, the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pngo.net\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Palestinian civil society network PNGO<\/a>\u202fand the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/rightsforum.org\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dutch NGO The Rights Forum<\/a>. In 2024, the ELSC became a registered charity (<em>stichting<\/em>) in the Netherlands. In 2024, we also opened new offices in Berlin and London.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stichting&nbsp;PILP is a non-profit law firm&nbsp;that specialises in strategic litigation for human rights in the Netherlands. PILP strives to be the legal ally of communities, movements, interest&nbsp;groups&nbsp;and activists who are committed to human rights, the rule of law and a just and fairer world.&nbsp;PILP does this by advising allies on the use of the law as a tool in their struggle for change, and by conducting strategic legal proceedings on their behalf and with them. PILP is also committed to sharing knowledge about strategic litigation and movement lawyering at home and abroad.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PILP team currently consists of nine employees, including four&nbsp;lawyers. The office is&nbsp;located&nbsp;on&nbsp;Keizersgracht&nbsp;in Amsterdam.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does the position entail?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;Junior&nbsp;Legal&nbsp;Officer&nbsp;plays&nbsp;an important role&nbsp;within the ELSC and PILP legal teams&nbsp;and&nbsp;assists&nbsp;in the preparation and execution of all legal work. The&nbsp;Junior&nbsp;Legal&nbsp;Officer&nbsp;will be involved in colleagues&#8217; ongoing cases and will provide support with new requests.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Phases of the role<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Phase I:<\/strong>&nbsp;The selected candidate will work fulltime with the ELSC&nbsp;team&nbsp;from&nbsp;<strong>March&nbsp;until&nbsp;August 2026.<\/strong>&nbsp;The Junior Legal Officer&nbsp;will primarily&nbsp;be responsible for&nbsp;conducting basic casework and managing the intake of cases through the Case Management System (CMS), they are&nbsp;expected to work independently in performing initial client&nbsp;interviews and&nbsp;ensuring that all relevant documentation is accurately recorded and&nbsp;maintained&nbsp;in the CMS.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Phase II<\/strong>:&nbsp;You will follow the&nbsp;<em>Beroepsopleiding&nbsp;Advocaten<\/em>&nbsp;(Professional Training Programme for Lawyers, hereafter referred to as \u201cProgramme\u201d)&nbsp;<strong>with PILP&nbsp;for a period of 3 years<\/strong>. From September 2026 they will start a legal traineeship with PILP 4 days a week under the supervision of Jelle Klaas while working 1 day a week for the ELSC.&nbsp;&nbsp;At this&nbsp;point&nbsp;the&nbsp;Junior&nbsp;Legal&nbsp;Officer will officially become a&nbsp;<strong>trainee lawyer<\/strong>.&nbsp;The trainee lawyer will work on all cases assigned by PILP. Daarnaast zet PILP zich in voor het delen van kennis over&nbsp;strategisch procederen&nbsp;en&nbsp;<em>movement&nbsp;lawyering<\/em>, zowel nationaal als internationaal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het PILP-team bestaat momenteel uit negen medewerkers, waaronder vier advocaten.&nbsp;Het&nbsp;kantoor&nbsp;is&nbsp;gevestigd&nbsp;aan&nbsp;de&nbsp;Keizersgracht&nbsp;in Amsterdam.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Wat houdt de functie in?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De&nbsp;Junior&nbsp;Legal&nbsp;Officer&nbsp;speelt een belangrijke rol binnen de juridische teams van&nbsp;het&nbsp;ELSC en PILP en ondersteunt bij de voorbereiding en uitvoering van alle juridische werkzaamheden. De&nbsp;Junior&nbsp;Legal&nbsp;Officer&nbsp;wordt betrokken bij lopende zaken van collega\u2019s en biedt ondersteuning bij nieuwe verzoeken.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De functie kan worden onderverdeeld in verschillende fases:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fase&nbsp;I<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>De geselecteerde kandidaat werkt van&nbsp;maart&nbsp;tot en met augustus 2026 fulltime bij het ELSC. De Junior Legal&nbsp;Officer&nbsp;is voornamelijk verantwoordelijk voor het uitvoeren van&nbsp;basis werkzaamheden binnen&nbsp;verschillende dossiers&nbsp;en&nbsp;voor&nbsp;het beheren van de intake van zaken via het Case Management System (CMS). Vanaf september 2026 start&nbsp;de kandidaat met de beroepsopleiding en&nbsp;zal&nbsp;hij\/zij\/hen&nbsp;werkzaam zijn als&nbsp;advocaat-stagiairbij PILP voor vier dagen per week onder supervisie van Jelle Klaas.
