This raises important questions related to press independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>\u2696\ufe0f Will you help us win more cases?&nbsp;\u2696\ufe0f<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/elsc.support\/it\/donate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DONATE<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>NETHERLANDS: A POSITIVE PRESS COUNCIL DECISION FOR PALESTINIAN RIGHTS ADVOCATES<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In August 2022, the Dutch Press Council&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rvdj.nl\/2022\/26\" target=\"_blank\">ruled<\/a>&nbsp;that Dutch daily newspaper&nbsp;<em>Algemeen Dagblad<\/em>&nbsp;acted carelessly by publishing allegations of antisemitism against&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/rightsforum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Rights Forum<\/a>&nbsp;without hearing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u2757NL Press Council rules that a newspaper can&#39;t publish antisemitism allegations against a person without hearing the party accused.<br>\u2696\ufe0fjustice for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheRightsForum?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@TheRightsForum<\/a>, facing a smear campaign aimed at restricting its journalistic use of FOI requests to research pro-Israel advocacy <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TAit5UVQr6\">https:\/\/t.co\/TAit5UVQr6<\/a><\/p>&mdash; European Legal Support Center (ELSC) (@elsclegal) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elsclegal\/status\/1555527131551223809?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">August 5, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an important achievement considering the Dutch NGO has been facing a harsh&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/rightsforum.org\/hoe-ons-wob-verzoek-wordt-beantwoord-met-een-lastercampagne\/\" target=\"_blank\">smear campaign<\/a>&nbsp;since the beginning of the year, after it filed a Freedom of Information Request (FOI) seeking to research ties between Dutch universities and pro-Israel advocacy groups as well as Israeli institutions, government agencies and Israeli arms, surveillance and security companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elsclegal\/status\/1555527131551223809\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">share<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rights Forum also achieved a significant&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CjV-GloobY3\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link\" target=\"_blank\">victory<\/a>&nbsp;against disinformation. After the organisation alerted Google about a Google ad sponsored by the Israeli government labelling Amnesty International as antisemitic, Google took down the ad within one day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elsclegal\/status\/1577932493512130560\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SHARE<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>DOCUMENTA FIFTEEN: &#8220;WE ARE DETERMINED, WE ARE TOGETHER, WE ARE NOT GIVING UP&#8221;<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On 25 September 2022, the world\u2019s largest contemporary art exhibition,&nbsp;<em>documenta fifteen<\/em>, closed after months of brutal and unfounded allegations against the curators ruangrupa, members of the artistic team and participating artists. The largest grassroots environmental network in Europe explains the link between food sovereignty in Palestine and Israeli settlements, highlighting the necessity to stop all EU trade with the latter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/foeeurope\/status\/1557344218078666752\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SHARE<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#STANDWITHTHE6: A NEW PHASE OF REPRESSION AGAINST PALESTINIAN CIVIL SOCIETY<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On the morning of 18 August 2022, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) raided the offices of seven Palestinian organisations including the six that were designated as \u201cterrorist\u201d by the Israeli government in October 2021. The IOF confiscated documents and equipment, destroyed material, sealed entrance doors and left military orders ordering the closure of the organisations. Over 150 organisations, including the ELSC,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/elsc.support\/it\/news\/over-150-organizations-demand-international-community-stand-against-raids-and-closures-of-7-palestinian-organizations\/\" target=\"_blank\">demanded<\/a>&nbsp;the international community take all the necessary action to support and protect Palestinian human rights defenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.elsc.support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/DCI-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/elsc.support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/DCI-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/elsc.support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/DCI-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/elsc.support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/DCI-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/elsc.support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/DCI-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/elsc.support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/DCI-1200x675.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/elsc.support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/DCI.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, the EU has remained quiescent on the matter, as it has regarding the protection of French-Palestinian human rights defender Salah Hammouri.&nbsp; For the past two decades, Salah has been subjected to constant harassment and deprivation of his fundamental rights by Israeli authorities. His three-month administrative detention&nbsp;based on \u201csecret evidence\u201d&nbsp;was again renewed at the beginning of September 2022&nbsp;and he has now been transferred into&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/justiceforsalah.net\/10\/2022\/press-release-en\/urgent-action-salah-hammouri-on-ninth-day-of-hunger-strike\/\" target=\"_blank\">solitary confinement<\/a>. Along with other political prisoners, Salah began a hunger strike on 25 September and has since been deprived of salt.
