German Court dismisses Palestinian Journalist in Gaza Anas Fteiha’s Case against Newspaper BILD for not being able to provide a hand-signed document and summonable address
22. October, Berlin – The European Legal Support Center (ELSC) with partner lawyer Ingrid Yeboah has taken legal action against the German media company Axel Springer, after their tabloid BILD had published an article smearing the Palestinian Journalist in Gaza Anas Fteiha in an article in August 2025, thereby implying he was a “legitimate target” for the Israeli army and putting him and his family’s life in grave danger. We aimed to remove the article published on BILD with the title “This Gaza photographer stages Hamas propaganda” on behalf of Fteiha through an action for injunction and the resulting civil lawsuit. -

Wise Case Launch: Challenging Financial Exclusion of Palestinians
Two Palestinian women residing in Italy have initiated proceedings against Wise Europe SA after their bank accounts were suddenly closed without notice or explanation. They are supported by the European Legal Support Center (ELSC) and legally assisted by the Brussels-based law firm Progress Lawyers Network (PLN). The case is now before the Court of First Instance of Brussels, where their legal team is seeking accountability for what we view as an unlawful and discriminatory action. This is not only a matter of contract law and consumer rights, but also about the systemic financial exclusion practiced against Palestinians in Europe and beyond. -

Dutch Government Proposes Bill Aimed at Suppressing Opposition to its Complicity in the Genocide: ELSC Sends Objection, Encourages Others to Speak Out
The Dutch government has proposed a new bill primarily aimed at suppressing opposition to its complicity in the genocide in Gaza. The law proposal, submitted by the (outgoing) cabinet, would criminalise the so-called “glorification of terrorism” and “public support for terrorist organisations”. The bill deliberately lacks clear definitions of what would constitute a punishable offence, allowing it to be used to prosecute people who oppose government policy. Given the government’s unconditional support for the Israeli genocide in Gaza, even symbolic expressions of solidarity such as a watermelon could potentially be prosecuted as “glorification of terrorism” under this vague law. -

ELSC and PILC File Complaint with Solicitors Regulation Authority Against UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) Director
The ELSC and PILC have submitted a formal complaint to the SRA against Caroline Turner, Director of UKLFI, alleging breaches of the SRA’s Principles and Code of Conduct, including the use of Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPP), which are lawsuits intended to limit freedom of expression on matters of public interest. Additionally, we are calling for an investigation into whether UKLFI is operating as an unregulated law firm, and urging the SRA to bring it under regulatory oversight.
