{"id":7520,"date":"2025-07-21T13:23:47","date_gmt":"2025-07-21T11:23:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/elsc.support\/?p=7520"},"modified":"2025-07-21T13:23:50","modified_gmt":"2025-07-21T11:23:50","slug":"elsc-files-criminal-complaint-against-police-officer-be-24111-who-beat-up-protestors-at-nakba-day-demo-in-berlin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elsc.support\/ar\/elsc-files-criminal-complaint-against-police-officer-be-24111-who-beat-up-protestors-at-nakba-day-demo-in-berlin\/","title":{"rendered":"ELSC Files Criminal Complaint Against Police Officer BE-24111 Who Beat Up Protestors at Nakba Day Demo in Berlin\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Berlin, Germany &#8211; 17<sup>th<\/sup> July 2025, the European Legal Support Center (ELSC) has filed a criminal complaint to the public prosecutor, for <em>assault in office,<\/em> <em>dangerous physical<\/em> <em>assault, false accusation <\/em>and all other applicable offences against a police officer who has been filmed repeatedly punching protesters in the head at Berlin\u2019s Nakba day demonstration on 15<sup>th<\/sup> May 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This comes after Forensis, an investigative research organisation, published <a href=\"https:\/\/counter-investigations.org\/investigation\/police-violence-and-misinformation-at-the-2025-nakba-day-protests-berlin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an investigation<\/a> and video evidence of the event, which contradicts the account of events around an injured Police officer given by the Berlin Police, German media and politicians. According to the investigation:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cFollowing the end of the protest, the Berlin Police claimed that an officer, identified as BE-24111, had been \u2018seriously injured\u2019 at the hands of the demonstrators. According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welt.de\/videos\/video256123018\/Palaestina-Demo-in-Berlin-Ein-Schwerverletzter-bei-eskalierter-Nakba-Demo-Polizist-wurde-niedergetrampelt.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">police spokesperson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berlin.de\/polizei\/polizeimeldungen\/2025\/pressemitteilung.1562798.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a subsequent press release<\/a>, the officer had been:\u00a0\u00a0<br>\u2013 Dragged into the crowd of protesters\u00a0<br>\u2013 Intentionally attacked\u00a0<br>\u2013 Pushed to the ground, and\u00a0<br>\u2013 Trampled on by protesters\u201d\u00a0<br><br>Following these claims by the Berlin Police various public voices in Germany gave statements which amount to a massive incitement and disinformation campaign against Palestine solidarity protestors. For example: Marking a new escalation in rhetoric, the Mayor of Neuk\u00f6lln, Martin Hikel, had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welt.de\/vermischtes\/plus256122910\/Berlin-Nur-als-Mordversuch-zu-deuten-Entsetzen-ueber-Attacke-auf-Polizisten-bei-Demo.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> that protestors had \u201cattempted to murder the Police man\u201d. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>However, video evidence suggests the Police officer voluntarily and purposefully entered the crowd and injured himself while repeatedly and furiously punching protestors in their faces.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Human Rights observers have long criticised the German Police violence against protestors in solidarity with Palestine, including latest letter from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/commissioner\/-\/the-commissioner-asks-the-german-authorities-to-uphold-freedom-of-expression-and-peaceful-assembly-in-the-context-of-the-conflict-in-gaza\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EU commissioner for Human Rights<\/a>. The ELSC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/elsc.support\/ar\/scope-and-patterns-of-anti-palestinian-repression-in-germany-revealed-repression-is-systematic-institutional-and-undeniable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">newly launched database<\/a> on anti-Palestinian repression documents 766 incidents of anti-Palestinian repression \u2013 Police\/Security personnel are responsible for 340 incidents making them the main actor of anti-Palestinian repression in Germany. Our database proves that this is not an isolated case rather, a systematic attack to silence and criminalise the Palestinian solidarity movement in Germany. The database is accessible at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.index-of-repression.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">index-of-repression.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Victims of Police violence who dare to speak up or appear publicly are routinely intimidated and attacked in retaliation by the Police in Germany. On 16<sup>th<\/sup> July the Berlin police has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berliner-zeitung.de\/news\/nach-nakba-demo-polizei-durchsucht-mehrere-wohnungen-in-berlin-li.2340350\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">raided<\/a> five homes of persons who were allegedly present at the scene\u00a0at the Nakba demo. Two of them are accused of resisting law enforcement officers and attempted prisoner liberation, while the other three were alleged to be present at the scene and could be witnesses. None of them are officially suspected of having directly physically assaulted the police officer. The alleged witnesses were not contacted by any investigators before the raids to testify.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With our criminal complaint we aim to pursue accountability and pressure the public prosecutor to launch a thorough investigation against the Police officer and eventually to put him on trial. We have provided extensive evidence but are prepared to appeal if the public prosecutor decides to drop the case.\u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 17 July 2025, the ELSC filed a criminal complaint against a Berlin police officer filmed violently assaulting protesters during the Nakba Day demonstration.
